Organizing for the Change of Season

With fall here and winter looming not too far away, indoor storage space becomes increasingly important.  Everything from lawn mowers and plant pots to summer tires need to be stored while leaving easy access to snow shovels and winter equipment. Make sure your home is ready for the change of seasons by setting it up properly:

  • Use the vertical space in your garage as much as possible by adding shelving, hooks, or ceiling storage.  The less you have on the floor, the more room you will have to park your vehicle when it gets cold and snowy outside.
  • Muddy boots and wet coats will also need to be dealt with during the winter months so clear away the summer clothes and get your front or back door set up to deal with cold weather outerwear. Set up a place for boots and shoes to drain without tracking dirt and mud into the house and have plenty of hooks or hangers available for coats, hats and scarves.

OFFICE

Microsoft Office Live

I recently came across a new tool launched by Microsoft called Office Live.  This free tool allows you to store and share documents online so you can access your files from any computer.  It is great for the small business person on the go. It also allows you to create a simple website and use Microsoft programs like Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. To learn more about this useful tool, visit www.officelive.com

Alan Phillips Clinical Counsellor of Confidential Counselling and Consulting Services brings us this Stress Tip of the Month:
Challenged with headaches and feelings of tension from too much strain? Massage therapy can be very effective. Although treatment by a massage therapist is ideal, if you need immediate relief try self-massage using the following method. Place your thumbs on your cheekbones close to your ears. Gently apply pressure using your fingertips by rubbing your temples, which is the soft spot between the corner of your eye and your ear. Using very firm pressure rotate your fingers in a very small circular motion along your hairline until they meet in the middle of your forehead. Be sure to massage your entire forehead and scalp as you gradually move along.
