Change Your Habits!
Changing personal habits is the key to getting, and staying, organized. How successful you are depends on your ability to discipline yourself on a constant basis.
Until your daily routine becomes a habit, your actions are up for grabs. Once something is a habit you get to be on automatic pilot or on cruise control, whether the habit is a good one or a bad one.
Here are a few good habits to start with:
- If you take it out, put it away! (yes mom...;)
- Do not shop when you are hungry, bored or in a hurry. This often leads to unecessary or impulse buying.
- Implement the one in, one out rule. When you purchase something new, make sure it replaces something you no longer need.
- Use it, love it or leave it!
If you would like to change your circumstances you have to first change your behavior. In order to change your behavior, you have to change your thinking. In order to change your thinking, you have to become aware of the thoughts that created your circumstances in the first place.
Start by building good habits that let you cruise through your day and give you time to play!

External Stressors
The environment that we live in is full of stressors. There are various elements present around you which, if inappropriate, can cause major stress. For example:
Too much dust or strong odors
Loud or unpleasant noises
Improper lighting
Crowded or cluttered areas
Start by making note of these irritations and then find ways to minimize or eliminate them.
Alan Phillips, Clinical Counsellor of Confidential Counselling and Consulting Services, brings us this Stress Tip of the Month on Reducing External Stressors:
Often there is a tendency to ignore irritations caused by external stressors because they seem so trivial. For example, stress can be caused by too much furniture in your office, a humming fluorescent light, poor ventilation, improper heating and bothersome odours. When external stressors become annoying, make the time to have them fixed. You might be surprised to discover that resolving those minor aggravations how at ease, more relaxed and healthier you might feel.
