Are You Ready to Lose the Clutter?

If your New Years resolutions include getting organized, losing weight and saving money, you are not alone. These are consistently rated as important goals but are some of the most difficult resolutions to stick to.

In the book Does this Clutter Make my Butt Look Fat? Peter Walsh talks about the correlation between clutter and weight. When it comes to clearing clutter, Peter says it is never about the stuff itself. It is about the life you want to live. The same is true for losing weight.  It is not about the pounds, it is about living the life you deserve in the body you want.

I had the pleasure of meeting Peter Walsh and hearing him speak last year at the National Association of Professional Organizers Conference in Reno, NV. His message was clear; It is not about the stuff. Clear out the junk, and in doing so clear out the patterns of thought and behavior that prevent you from living the life you want. If you try to clear the clutter by focusing on the stuff, you will fail to get organized.

If you are tired of being weighed down by too much stuff and want a fresh start to your new year, our next Clear the Clutter Bootcamp begins on Monday, January 19th. This six week program challenges you to reconsider what you are devoting space, time, and effort to in your life. Through weekly group meetings and individualized support you can reduce both physical and mental clutter and take control of all areas of your life at home and work.

Do you have paper clutter in your home or office that you would like to get rid of but it needs to be shredded first? This job can take hours if your shredder only take a few pages at a time. That is why Organizing Help is planning a Paper Shredding Day with Okanagan Paper Shredding! They will bring their shredding truck to a designated location and, for a small fee, you can have your paper shredded on-site. Normally they require a minimum of 10 boxes, but if we have enough people with one or two boxes of shredding, they are willing to accommodate us. If you would like to participate, please let me know and I will arrange a date and time when I have an idea of how many people would use this service.
