A Penny Saved...
With so much in the news about the economy, it makes sense for us to take a closer look at our spending habits. A lot of us are good at cutting costs with the small stuff—using coupons to save money on groceries, looking for the cheapest station to get gas, ordering a regular coffee rather than a latte—but somehow when it comes to the big stuff, we are often less than thrifty. A hundred dollars here or there on items worth $1,000 or more doesn't seem to phase us—but if we are overcharged on a small item, it bothers us to no end!
Try this. Take a twenty dollar bill out of your wallet and tear it into small pieces. Cant do it, can you? Nowadays, we are so accustomed to using plastic cards to pay for things it has desensitized us to how much we are actually spending. Think about how much $20 or $100 means to you. Then, next time you purchase a large ticket item, try paying with cash and see how much more thrifty you actually become as a result.

Business Optimization
If you have ever heard of the Pareto Principle you know that 80% of your profits are generated by 20% of your clients. You also know that 20% of your efforts yield 80% of your results. In business it is especially important to know which 20% of your efforts are working and which are not so you don't end up wasting a lot of time and energy.
Take the time to review every part of your business and see if you are operating at optimal efficiency.
- How much time do you spend on administrative tasks?
- Do you have good operational processes in place?
- How quickly can you retreive key information?
- Do you have an effective calendar system?
- Are you utilizing technology to its full potential?
With the help of a Professional Organizer you can ensure that the proper systems are in place to optimize the 80/20 Rule so your business can be more productive, professional and profitable.

This month I wanted to mention a couple of events that are happening this weekend in Kelowna (sorry about the short notice!):
* The first "Body of Purpose Retreat" will take place on Saturday, September 27th at Oranj Dance Fitness in Kelowna. I checked and there are still a few seats left! Call Melanie at (250)808-7070 to register.
* The "EPPICA Journey" retreat is also happening this weekend. For more information about this fantastic event, check out www.eppica.ca. |
